How Are Pokémon Assigned to a Generation?
Each Pokémon is assigned to the generation in which that species was first introduced. The picker does not include every Pokémon obtainable in the games from that generation.
How Is This Different from Top 9 Pokémon?
Top 9 Pokémon lets you choose any nine favorites and rank them in order. Favorite Pokémon by Generation reserves one fixed slot for every generation, so all nine eras are represented.

- Is this the same as a Generation 1 Pokémon list?
- No. This tool creates one nine-generation favorites chart. The Pokémon Generation pages show the complete roster introduced in each individual generation.
- Can two Pokémon from the same evolution family appear?
